I realized that some parks should only be treasured from afar. The park belongs to the wildlife aka GRIZZLY BEARS. The views look unreal and the best way to drive through is with a truck.
I planned a trip to GNP in 2022, but had to reschedule to 2023 due to my friend not being able to go. Thank God I did, because I had no idea how wild and big GNP is in entity. I glamped and still would probably be creeped out to do it alone. I did not do all the hikes and not even the hardest one, but I saw all the views. I may go back one day to see Many Glaciers if it still exists, but honestly it really should be shut down for the wilderness life.
What to know:
All National Parks require permits to go to the park on set dates.
Print maps because you may not have any service!
Wear layers and bring things to survive like portable battery with a flashlight.
Purchase All trails app and download maps.
Bring snacks that are packaged and a water bottle,
I recommend a water bottle with a filter.
There are some spots you can fill your water bottle by the parking lots.
Don't get off the trails you will die and there is a list of victims.
Plan to do indoor activities on rainy days.
Rest area food is not decent.
On the highway there is some decent food.
Save up to glamp or lodge. I went to undercanvas and enjoyed it- they no longer had the treehouse available in 2023 but it was still great to sleep in a canvas tent that has a hotel setup.
If you want to camp with grizzly bears go for it. I am wise and suggest you stay at a place with a roof or a canvas and a electric fence like undercanvas.
There are inns near the entrances of the GNP but they book up fast so reserve ahead of time.
Activites:
I did not go berry picking and I regret it. Do it!
Kayaking was cancelled due to high winds. Do it!
Do boat tours- by far the best hospitality and passionate crew that informs you of the history of GNP.
Rafting is great with a scenic tour guide.
Just enjoy the views and do some trails.
Two Medicine is amazing but Grizzly bear activity was high. I suggest you read off the GNP website what trails are closed and it states it on the All Trail app and the comments of hikers.
Hikers take pics and post it on the All Trails app and that gives you many hints if the trail is worth it.
Happy Hiking!
